Major improvements on way for road in East Kilbride

Improvement works are to be carried out on a road in East Kilbride from next week.
The works on B783 East Mains Road, East Kilbride will see the carriageway resurfaced and lining improvement works taking place across 12 days.
The work will start at 7am on Monday 18 August and is scheduled to be completed at 6pm on Friday 29 August.
B783 East Mains Road, East Kilbride will be closed from the roundabout at B761 West Mains Road to the roundabout at Markethill Road Monday to Friday both weeks.
A signed diversion route will be in place through B761 West Mains Road, Whitemoss Road, A725 Kingsway and the B783 East Mains Road.
B783 East Mains Road, East Kilbride will be closed from the roundabout at B761 West Mains Road to the roundabout at Mavor Avenue on Saturday 23 August and Sunday 24 August only.
A signed diversion route will be in place through B761 West Mains Road, Whitemoss Road, A725 Kingsway and the B783 East Mains Road.
Head of Roads, Transportation and Fleet Services, Colin Park, said: “We apologise in advance for any inconvenience these works may cause to road users.
“We would request that all road users allow additional time for all journeys which involve the use of B783 East Mains Road, East Kilbride during the times indicated and that they plan their routes accordingly.
“We are sure road users will appreciate the long-term benefits of the improvements when the work has been completed.”
